Appointments

At Llandaff Fields Medical Practice, we make it easy for you to get the care you need. Below, you’ll find information on how to book appointments, cancel them, request home visits, and use telephone consultations.

Making Appointments

Book on the Day appointments can be made every day and are a mixture of Face to Face and telephone calls. Our phones open at 8am. Please note this is a very busy time of day and our reception staff answer the telephones as quickly as they can.

We have a number of different clinicians providing appointments and therefore the receptionist will request brief details of your illness to ensure you are allocated to the most appropriate clinician.

Other Options for Care:

  • Choose Pharmacy: Your local pharmacy offers free NHS advice and treatment for minor ailments like colds or rashes, no appointment needed. Call your pharmacy for help.
  • NHS 111: For urgent medical help that’s not an emergency, call 111. Use this service if you need quick advice, think you need A&E, or aren’t sure who to contact.

Contact Us: Call 02921 855011, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Outside these hours, or on bank holidays, call NHS 111.

Cancelling Appointments

If you can’t make your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible. Cancelling with at least 24hrs notice allows us to offer the slot to another patient. If you cancel too late or miss your appointment, it’s considered a “missed appointment,” and we can’t reuse the time slot.

Help us keep appointments available for everyone by cancelling early if you don’t need it. Call us at 02921 855011 to cancel.

Home Visit Requests

We offer home visits for patients in our catchment area (CF11) who are unable to come to the surgery. Home visits are only for:

  • Terminally ill patients
  • Nursing home residents
  • Bed-bound patients

If you can come to the surgery, please do so, as we can provide better care with access to your medical records and equipment. Babies and small children should always be brought to the surgery, where we’ll see them as soon as possible.

How to Request a Home Visit:

  • Call before 10:00 AM, if possible.
  • Provide details about the issue so we can decide the best type of care.
  • If you or a loved one is too unwell to come to the surgery and needs emergency care, call 999 immediately.

Contact Us: Call 02921 855011, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Outside these hours or on bank holidays, call NHS 111.

Failed Appointments

Appointments must be attended on time, or cancelled with adequate notice, so that the appointment may be re-allocated. This can be done by calling at least 24hrs before your appointment time. Cancelling any closer to your appointment will mean we are unable to re-use your allocated slot, resulting in a wasted appointment. This is still classed as a missed appointment.

Please note that if a patient has 3 missed appointments within a rolling year they will be removed from our list.
